Leap of Faith Poetry began business in 1989 as The Julie Schwartz Studio out of a natural demand when one of Julie's original poems with a hand-cut scherenshnitte (paper-cut) design were given as a gift. The artwork was shared with others who were so impressed with the quality and sentiment, that people began inquiring about ordering items for themselves and to give as gifts. So many orders were placed  for this unique item, that Julie decided to leave a career in graphic design to launch the Julie Schwartz Studio Collection.

Julie began offering a hand-crafted line of framed artworks with hand-lettered calligraphy, specializing in the same heart-warming poetry. Retail sales were conducted primarily through craft fairs and word-of-mouth contacts. Special orders and custom art with poetry were a sizable portion of the sales.

At one such craft show, Julie saw a need for an alternate presentation for her poetry and calligraphy at a lower price point. This resulted in the initial press run of the Original Poetic Bookmark Collection line. They were such a success at that show that they became a regular part of her gift line, eventually becoming the primary product. In addition to the bookmarks the studio published framed poetry and art, stationery, and note card sets. Custom art and calligraphy were offered on a limited basis.

Less than a year after the company's beginning, the product was introduced to the wholesale market. It was immediately and enthusiastically accepted. Julie has also enjoyed great success in major theme parks and attractions across the nation, including Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Welcome Home, Home Again, Beall's, Focus on the Family, and Hallmark.

Julie Schwartz is honored to have her works of art part of many notable private collections, including two former Presidents of the United States.

Julie was awarded the Golden Poet Award for her poem "My Baby" and later invited for inclusion in Who's Who in Poetry, followed by Who's Who in Executives and Professionals and the Famous Poet's Society. She has created commissioned works of art for a number of museums, including the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art and the Salvador Dali Museum. The works were reproduced on writing papers and gift items to be sold in the museum gift shops. 

Julie's affection for the environment and its wildlife resulted in the creation of the Florida Wildlife books, a three-book series with pre-publication sales of nearly 8,000 books, and total sales of over 20,000 units. These Environmental Science and Life-Science workbooks have been sold across the state in the Florida Public School System, to home school families, and as souvenir books in the retail market. Additionally, Julie created a coloring book for the Gulf Coast World of Science (GWiz) featuring the various scientific attractions in the hands-on museum to assist in the raising of funds for the organization. 

With the renewed interest in family values and an increased demand for motivational and heart-felt verses, Julie's products have enjoyed a very high level of customer satisfaction. In the year 2000, as a statement of her faith, Julie renamed her company Leap of Faith Poetry. That same year, Julie introduced the Bookmark Greeting™ cards - a unique combination of card and keepsake bookmark gift. Additional new items were added to the product line including Food for Thought™ list pads, Grace Notes™ note pads, magnets, key rings, ceramic mugs, and Share-a-Cards™.

Julie's success lies in her heart-felt writings. Her poems are appreciated for the expressions of sensitive emotions that are shared by so many. Her lines feature original poetry, imaginative and colorful art, and hand-lettered calligraphy. Our customers come back again and again for gifts they describe as "unique," "inspiring," and "beautiful."
